The Truth About Russia
by Maya

Response to one who tried to find any reason to be negative, using the totally wrong approach to show his touched ego on bases of totally misunderstood event. After all, no knowledge of the Russian language, just an absolutely off supposition.

“I am really sorry to read such a one-sided opinion based on a single unfortunate event. Do you really have to support bad gossip and make conclusions based on such? This way we never find open and friendly communication between the nations.

I’ll tell you something. I saw such in Germany, England, France…but most of all I’ve seen it in NYC.

After all our dangerous travel struggles were conquered, ((political refugees) we were lucky to finally land in New York City, getting ready to start a new life in the “Unknown World”…
We were shocked when we saw for the first time a person lying in the middle of pavements and others stepping across. People here are not bothered with this at all.
Well, we’ve been seeing quite a bit of this, as times passed, especially when living there for 9 years. Still, we have never made conclusions that Americans are cold people.

But you did draw such a conclusion about Russians, based on one situation, and immediately made yourself a hero.
I did help many people in my life and to the extent, I earned the name “Mother Teresa.” For me it was normal, helping one human being to another, no need for praises, neither any kind of judgment.

I am half Russian, but that doesn’t mean I am not critical. In every nation are people good, bad, smart, stupid, talented, etc…
Overall the coldest nation to foreigners I found in Germany, then very soon one day I met several superior friends with whom I am in friendship for many years.  Same in other countries.

My father, Czech, considered Russians as warmest, most friendly, and the most hospitable people, which I could confirm. When they invite you for a visit, please Do Not eat anything for at least half a day. Because their tables are overloaded with all you can imagine and that could be just for YOU!

There is another thing to check on:
listen to Russian songs. They are one of the most beautiful in the world and can touch your heart and soul very deeply.
Yes, many developed deep feelings via surviving horrors of wars, where Russia lost millions of their own, suffering under Communist regimes, especially during Stalin’s era…
I don’t know any other country singing to the day about their heroes, always remembering and celebrating those.

When started my first websites in 1990 and read so many superior comments, just from Americans, how much they would love to understand it, I started to translate the texts of Russian songs. No cold and unfriendly nation would be capable of such strong emotions. When you add superior talent to it, here you have it…

Russia Loved Him

After all, said, I decided to present as an example one simple song, which I fast translated…It shows the Russian soul and love for nature and for their country. Russians are highly emotional people. Also, lyrics were created by those 2 singers. Note superior voices, also an augmentation of music is superior and listeners themselves have really lived with them the song.

Пелагея и Дарья Мороз – ..по полю с конём..

Lyrics Pelageya and Daria Moroz –

Out in a field with a horse…

I go out in a field with a horse at night
We quietly go through the night
We will go with the horse along the field together,
We will go with the horse along the field together,
We will go with the horse along the field together,
We will go with the horse along the field together …

At night in the field grace of stars
You can’t see in the field anyone
Only we are going around the field with a horse
Only we are going around the field with a horse
Only we are going around the field with a horse
Only we are going to the field with a horse …

I’ll sit on the horse, say…
You carry me across the field
In my boundless field,
In my endless field …

Let me see it all…

Where the field dawns,
A cowberry color, scarlet, and dawn,
Is this the place, or it is not.
A cowberry color, scarlet, and dawn,
Is this the place, or it is not.

My dear field,
Far villages lights,
Golden rye, yes curly flax …
I’m in love with you, Russia, in love
Golden rye, yes curly flax …
I’m in love with you, Russia, in love …

Good year-rich harvest
It always was somehow, and somehow it will be
Sing, golden rye, sing, curly flax
Sing about being in love with Russia
Sing, golden rye, sing, curly flax
We go with a horse across the field together
